Join us on Friday 06 September, 8pm for a night of poetry from poets Emily Cooper and Jo Burns, who will be joined by translator Astrid Köhler (translator of Emily Cooper's Glass — Verlangsamung des Herzschlags).

The Conversation (Doire Press 2024) by Emily Cooper and Jo Burns is a collaborative poetry collection. It follows a conversation held between three of Picasso's lovers/subjects. "What drives this collection is not only the act of unmasking the women behind the paintings, but an exploration of what it means to be an artist, who can represent who and what value is held in both making art and being its subject."

Glass by Emily Cooper is a poetry collection published by Makina Book in 2021. "Cooper’s poetics masterfully create a compelling space that deliberately excludes wide views—instead bringing her pen up close to a dilapidated house in a small rural town with its own personality. The traces and presence of those who have existed in those spaces—real and imagined—become interdependent in the narrative." A German translation of Glass, (Verlangsamung des Herzschlags) by Astrid Köhler was published in 2023 (Ink Press)
